Post By Ammon, Servant of God

When King Mosiah tasked us with finding the people of Zeniff, who had ventured to reclaim the land of Nephi, I felt the weight of the charge. Accompanied by my brethren—Amaleki, Helem, and Hem—we set out, uncertain of what lay ahead. The wilderness was vast, and the path unknown. For days, we wandered, facing hunger, fatigue, and the constant threat of wild beasts, not to mention Lamanite scouts. Our only guide was faith in the Lord, who strengthened us through prayer and revelation.
After much toil, we found the Nephites in the land of Shilom, but they were in bondage under King Laman, king the Lamanites. My heart sank to see their suffering, yet we rejoiced to find them alive. Gaining their trust was no small task—years of isolation had made them wary. But through patience and the Spirit’s guidance, we shared Mosiah’s goodwill and our intent to deliver them. Their Nephite king, a righteous man named Lemhi, son of a wicked King Noah, and grandson of Zeniff, is a good man who ruled with love and patience after having been persecuted and partially destroyed by the Lamanites.
The greatest challenge was devising a way to free them from Lamanite rule. The Lamanites guarded the land closely, and any attempt to flee risked slaughter. It was then that Gideon, a man of remarkable wisdom and courage, proposed a daring plan. He suggested we gather wine and provide plentifully enough to make the Lamanite guards drunk, rendering them helpless as we escaped. I marveled at his ingenuity. Gideon’s plan was not born of deceit but of a deep desire to save his people. His resourcefulness and bold faith earned my utmost respect, for he saw a way where others saw only despair.
That night, we executed Gideon’s plan. The Lamanites, lulled by wine, fell into a deep slumber. Under cover of darkness, we led Limhi’s people—men, women, and children—out of the land of Nephi. The Lord softened the hearts of our pursuers, and we reached Zarahemla in safety. I will forever honor Gideon, whose cleverness and trust in God turned captivity into freedom. May his name be remembered among the Nephites as a testament to the Lord’s deliverance.
